Brian Bennett is the founder of EISA. He graduated in Psychology from University College London with a BSc (hons) and an MSc in Industrial/Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck College University of London. Originally from Dublin, Brian is a practising organisational and personal development psychologist with a particular interest and research base in Emotional Intelligence. He is a consultant of many years standing having worked widely in industry, commerce and education. He is also Registrar of the Institute of Technology Carlow Ireland and has acted as Director/President of the Institute too. He lectures in psychology for the Institute’s Centre for Lifelong Learning and is the programme director for the Centre’s Certificate in Emotional Intelligence.

Brian is a Training Partner with MHS UK & Canada, publishers and accreditators of the leading assessments in emotional intelligence, the Bar-On EQ-i and its successor in 2011, the EQ-i 2.0; as a partner he is licensed by MHS to train others in the application of the EQ-i to assess the emotional intelligence of adults. His approach is to ensure that his training courses are focused on the use of the EQ-i 2.0 in the person’s own area of expertise. Since 2007 he has run very successful courses in the use of the EQ-i and graduated a substantial number of professionals accredited to use the EQ-i.

In 2002 he published a guide for personal developmednt in organisational settings – Paths to Personal Revolution in Work – Blackhall Publishing Dublin (currently under revision for publication as an E-Book). He is also a researcher together with John Sheehy and Reuven Bar-On (creator of the EQ-i) in the application of emotional intelligence to first year undergraduate academic performance (journal paper in preparation in 2011).
